Golden Lama
Their first ever released with cleared samples!
The brainchild of David Woods and Larry Tiger emerged shyly onto the scene one year prior to our story, letting loose on the world 2 prototype releases under their own Editainment imprint, that served as both a teaser and a test for what was soon to become the most iconic disco bootleg edit label of recent times. It's impossible to forget or ignore tracks such as 'Gin Nation', 'Come Down', 'Deflowered' or 'Time', so much that I've heard DJs from all possible genres drop at least one of these at some point in space in time. But the defining turning point was crossed when Tiger & Woods released 'Out of Bounds' and it's contagious whistlin' 'Love in Cambodgia' chune. Since then, the boys took a bit of time off on the label, leaving room for a gang of like-minded edit freaks with similarly clever monikers such as Pop & Eye, Cleo & Patra, Det & Ari, Shangri & La, Boe & Zak and even River & Phoenix.

Fast forward to xmas eve at Phonica Records, where savvy customers were greeted by a rather intriguing test pressing promo release baring the iconic retro tiger stamp on the sleeve. There's no doubt: the boys are back! Their latest edit-heavy usual 2-tracker 'Scoring Clubs Part 1' has been officially announced and is set to drop next month. Side A is home to 'Don't Try To Stop Me', a guitar sample-infused groover that features a heavy phat bassline and sultry vocal cuts complete with a slice of vocoder goodness that gradually build the track into a crowd-screaming breakdown. 'Matrix' on the other side is a fully-fledged belter sporting solid thumping kicks, funky riffs and playful looped vocal slices. The star of the arrangement is a multi-layered roaring synth line perfectly balanced out by whirling strings and screaming sirens, giving this track a highly ecstatic feel.
