The album opens with "Hamburg Hat Fadendienst", a frenetic, hurried piece of sequential music held in position by the strict bass drum beat. A complex composition this, with many sounds creeping in and out of the mix. "Eine Schangse Für Die Welt Von Morgen" is next, a similar piece, yet this time a sort of loose song. "Salzburg Hilton 1972" is a spoken piece with a piano tinkering in set pattern in the background. "Minister Streifchen" is voice & guitar - I'm not sure what it's all about, but the lunatic laughter suggests its something strange. "Frühlingselend Am Lago Di Como" is a more complete piece, music for a creepy JOHN CARPENTER or PETER GREENAWAY film. "Das Kranke Kind" is minimal with MAX soft-talking to the microphone to give it a close, warm, claustrophobic, cramped, stifling sound. "Die Sprache Der Fische" clicks and thumps it's way in sounding like some Industrial Plague Song. "Ein Wochenende In Bad Blut" is a weird two voice thing which suggests madness in both composition and execution. "Kartoffelpolitisches Pausenzeichen" is a clattering circus clown ditty, while "Party" is a calmer, almost Hymn-like piece of music (in the way that "Amazing Grace" was). "Ein Elmer Erbsen Mittelfein" is a tense, echoey Industrial soundtrack with close vocals. "Monolog Des Morganatischen Maurers" is voice over a simplistic, minimal slice of music. "Betrunkene Frauen" is another Industrial-sounding track, simplistic but effective, with Max adding voiced high in the mix. "Die Symbolische Nachbarin" is a slowly drifting piece of noise with the voice rambling over roughshod. It turns into a nursery rhyme of pain. "Nacht Die Tür Auf" is a strict, together piece with vocals not unlike DAVID BOWIE's. "Stille Tage In Kanoldswerder" tinkers and twinkles in like alien caliope music. "Katinka Wird Zur Frau" has a 'recorded at home' sound - not that it sounds under-developed, just that the ambience sounds 'homey'. "Familie Und Gesundheitswesen" sounds musically like music for CIRCUS ARCHAOS, but MAX sings a delicate song across it, which strangely fits it. "Zurück In Die Heimat" clicks into existance while MAX and his alter ego argue (I think!). A piano strikes up at the end, then there is an unlisted vocal thing. I think I missed a track somewhere, but you get the general feel of the album. Unable to speak the language, I couldn't appreciate MAX to the full, as I feel he is first and foremost a vocal performer. Musically this album is interesting, with varied tracks which have an occasional 'NURSE WITH WOUND' quirkiness, but are well developed and well played. He ought to be doing film soundtracks.
